De temperatuur ligt rond de 10 graden. De wind komt uit een zuid- tot zuidwestelijke richting en is (vrij) krachtig, 5 tot 6 Bft., langs de kust is het hard tot stormachtig, 7 tot 8 Bft.. Verder is de wind erg vlagerig en komen er windstoten voor tussen de 60 en 85 km/uur.
Log:
Het doel van vandaag was een eerste meting te verrichten op het eerder (16/12) geplaatste meetpunt. Met een team van twee duikers zijn we vanaf de tweede strekdam vertrokken. De golven waren redelijk hoog met schuimkoppen. De eerste 10 meter van de duik waren volledig blind. Bijgevolg moesten we elkaar vasthouden tijdens het duiken naar het wrak. De stroming was redelijk krachtig en het kostte wel wat moeite om op koers te blijven. Na 10 minuten hadden we het wrak gevonden en konden we ons rustig laten afzakken naar de locatie van het meetpunt.
Daar aangekomen verwelkomde ons een mooie hooiwagenkrab op de zichtmeter. De meting gaf een zicht van 1 meter en een watertemperatuur van 5 graden. We hebben een foto genomen van de zichtmeter vergezeld van de hooiwagenkrab en zijn terug naar de boeg van het schip gezwommen. Het zicht was zo slecht dat we op 20 meter hebben besloten terug te zwemmen. Het was een relaxte duik met slecht zicht en tegelijk bijzonder om de eerder geplaatste zichtmeter terug te vinden.

Plaatsing Meetpunt nr 1 (27m) wrak De Boer.

Er is tamelijk veel bewolking en er komen enkele buien voor. De buiigheid neemt geleidelijk af en hier en daar gaat het opklaren. De middagtemperatuur is zo'n 8 graden. De zuidwestenwind is zwak tot matig, 5 Bft..
Log:
Na enkele maanden van testduiken en testmetingen voor Projectbaseline Zeeland op het wrak De Boer, is vandaag een officieel Projectbaseline meetpunt geïnstalleerd. Dit is te vinden op 27m (laagwater) aan het stalen “hekje”, ten oosten van het wrak. Hierbij is het instrument gericht naar het zuiden. Dit meetpunt zal gebruikt worden voor het meten van het aantal meters zicht met behulp van de zichtmeter.
Met een team van drie GUE duikers en één NELOS (CMAS) duiker zijn we op zoek gegaan naar het wrak. Tijdens de pre-dive checks werden we getrakteerd op het bezoek van een nieuwsgierige zeehond die tijdens het onderduiken een van de duikers in zijn vin beet. Spectaculair! De stroming was matig en er waren 8 minuten nodig om het wrak te bereiken. Eenmaal op 27m hebben we even de tijd moeten nemen om het “hekje” oostwaarts van het wrak te vinden. Aan het hekje hebben we het meetpunt samen met de zichtmeter geïnstalleerd en deze georiënteerd naar het zuiden.
We hebben de eerste zichtmeting van dit meetpunt verricht (2m) en de watertemperatuur gemeten (5 graden Celsius). Het wrak is volledig begroeid met de bekende gewone gele Broodspons. Er zitten enkele grote kreeften in verschillende holen. De zeedonderpad is rijkelijk aanwezig.
De oorspronkelijke planning was om gedurende 30 minuten bij het wrak te blijven en daarna op 20m terug westwaarts te zwemmen. Door deze 20m aan te houden is het mogelijk om met minder stroming terug op de strekdam te komen.
Het was een geslaagde duik waarbij we met trots kunnen zeggen dat we een mijlpaal bereikt hebben door het plaatsen van het meetpunt.

- patches of whitish slimy stuff on the seabed floor
Between 10m and 3m:

- an unusually white swimming crab (cf. photo, "gewone zwemkrab", Liocarcinus holsatus)
